Re: 2016 Deer Season is Near!
Its weird how the bucks are mostly moving in daylight hours while the does are moving at night.
The bucks are in two different groups and each group looks like they are trying to establish territory.
The largest bucks are in a group of 4 and the smaller buck are in a group of 3.
I half cut a bunch of cedars about 30 yards up the hill and it looks as if the deer have bedded down under everyone of them.

I've been slacking, done zero scouting, zero food plot prep, absolutely nothing. Hopefully Monday I can head down and setup some no till plots and cameras. It's probably too late for the plots now though.

Unless you can get some winter wheat going.
Trophy Rock is what I have been putting out for over 3 years now and the deer have dug almost to China getting every last bit. I replenish it about every month. The grass I planted was a type of field grass that I seen used on a few hunting shows (forget the name of the grass) and the deer eat the tops off when its ankle deep.
Other than that I try to throw corn down about every two weeks year round.
Putting my blind up this weekend.

I'm excited for this season. Hopefully I'll be teaching my buddy to hunt and process his own deer. ALL of my meat from last year spoiled due to a power outage before we could eat it, so I've been a year without venison. This year I have a badass grinder and will be trying to make up some sausage, too.

Somebody burned down my FIL's hunting cabin the other day down in Knott Co. It was a double wide manufactured trailer. Pretty sure about who the culprit might be.

I have 3 deer under my belt. It is fun and definitely a good thing to know how to do IMO. Cant wait to get out for it this year.ssracer wrote:thats what I want to do..learn to hunt and process itWhootsinator wrote:I'm excited for this season. Plenty of public land out there, if you are willing to hike out early you can get to less pressured areas.iron369 wrote:I've never been deer hunting. Did a little squirrel hunting as a kid. Leasing land to hunt is outrageous.

Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife has areas posted on their website. Also on how you can enter lotteries for Taylorsville, FT. Knox, etc.
