1mil = 1 yard at 1000 yards
1mil = 1 meter at 1000 meters

Well I'll be damned. Just read quite a bit more and mildots are the best thing since sliced bacon.

:mrgreen: It would really be nice to learn hands on if any one willing. I live in owenton and willing to travel a ways for a 1/2 or full day of hands on. I would offer pay but I am retired on a very low income. Could possibly offer lunch or a box of ammo or something like that.

as far as hunting with a mil dot, I'd suggest measuring items of known size when you get to your stand and making a range card. you will want to use the elevation turret to set your elevation and use your mil dots for the windage as the wind is always changing.

The scale is called a "Mil Dot Master" http://www.mildot.com

place small marking flags at 50 yard intervals around the stand, 50,100, 150, 200,and so on, they work as wind flags and range markers.
