more scope questions... 3-9x40

Post by CCRBUM » Sun Feb 01, 2015 12:08 pm

still trying to decide on a scope... looking at low power as stated in my other post but I'm also looking at some 3-9x40 scopes... 3 in particular... Vortex Diamondback 3-9x40, Nikon P223 3-9x40 and Leopold VX-1 3-9x40. All can be purchased new for right around $200.. I've got no experience with any of them lol... anyone have any of them and can comment?

At the price of $230.00 you could get the Primary arms 4-14x44 Mil Mil FFP.

I would guess that at the price point you are looking, none of the scopes are say better then the other as far as quality goes, you would be shopping more for the features you liked and name loyalty.

I think everyone of those you mentioned is a good scope. I just tend to prefer Nikon's. Seems to be what I have picked up in the last few years reasonably. Any three of those have good name recognition in my experience.

I have a Nikon 4x12 P223 and like it a lot. I paid around $200 for it and was happy at the time. now Nikon is closing out the Buckmaster line which is a better scope if you do not adjust much. 4 x 12 for $150. 3 x 9 for $130. those are great scopes for lower than I paid. makes me mad.
