Nikon P223 consideration....

Post by 1fastmach1 » Wed Jun 18, 2014 9:47 pm

So, currently I've got an ar pistol with a sig brace. It has the magpul flip up sights on it but I'm looking for something more power for range use.

First off, I don't want to spend a ton of money and a friend has this particular scope and loves it. I don't know much about optics myself though. I have an ar with a 7.5" barrel. I'm not really looking to reach out with it but would like to hit 100-150 yards or so. Would that be possible with this setup without problems? This is a carbine length scope so I don't think it would look too bad. What is everyone opinion of the scope it self for the money? Any suggestions maybe?

Here is a link to the scope. Hit me with some feedback guys....

I was very close to buying one this past winter when they were going for $100. What held me back was that the were/are designed to be zeroed at 200 yards.

God made man.

John M. Browning and the 1911 made some men more equal than others.

I don't like the fact that it's a fixed magnification. The price is about $140 now. Any suggestions?

If you do end up with one, save yourself fifty bucks and don't buy the mounts. I have the twin mounts but never bought the optic. They're yours if you get one, just collecting dust here.

I recently got a P223 4x12 and am really happy with it. I went just under $200. I plan on taking it to a 600 yard range in a couple of months.

If you are wanting an adjustable, you might want to look on Amazon. Nikon Buckmaster 3x9 for around $190 after taxes. good optic and I think that series has adjustable finger turrets under the screw caps but you might want to double check that. I think they are phasing out the Buckmaster series so you can get one for $100 cheaper than normal.

if the whole zero thing is your hang up then use the spot on software and get the fixed x3 and zero at 100 yards. I bet you will be happy with a tough light scope.

the spot on software will allow you to input the round you are shooting and a lot of other variables so you will know exactly what the distances will be based upon your set up and the zero distance you choose. do not forget to knock off 4 or 500 fsp of muzzle velocity for that short barrel. is it louder than hell?

I'll look into that buckmaster series. Just kinda weighing my options. Loud? It's extremely loud. I usually wear ear buds with muffs over them when I shoot it.
