Optic suggestions?
Optic suggestions?
New to the forum!
Recently purchased a new rifle and in the market for a good quality, budget friendly optic. Considering UTG, Bushnell, or Vortex possibly. Like I said, extremely tight budget. Any suggestions?

Re: Optic suggestions?
I have not heard bad things about 'em. A buddy of mine has one on an AR that he bench shoots a couple times a year. He has not had a problem with holding zero on that level of shooting.cgivan wrote:Any issues with PA red dots holding zero?

Re: Optic suggestions?
I have PA and Vortex red dots on several of my rifles. For short to mid range, I find them very adequate, even with my old eyes. Of the 5 I own, I have only needed to rezero one of them, after the rifle fell off the bed of my truck, and it was only off a tiny bit. I think the covers were off of the adjustment knobs at the time & it actually landed on the adjuster which got moved in the impact. I said many bad words that day at New Haven.
Red dot scopes are really easy to learn to use properly, and the better ones have no parallax issues to worry about.
if you want something for longer range use, Simmons and Bushnell have many good candidates available for reasonable (read cheap!) money. I recently put a mil-dot Simmons .44 Magnum 6-21x44 on my Marauder .25 and it has proven itself an awesome piece of glass for the money.

Re: Optic suggestions?
IMHO the best bang for the buck AR optic is an Aimpoint PRO, and my favorite optic is the H-1, but if I needed to spend <$100 I'd definitely opt for a Primary Arms micro. I have two, and neither has ever given me the slightest problem.

Re: Optic suggestions?
One of mine lost zero (a mini) about 2 years ago when I shot about 400 rds in 2 hrs. Dot started drifting. I sent it back to PA they sent me a new one. I haven't abused any other like that since then.cgivan wrote:Any issues with PA red dots holding zero?
