Hiking/backpacking/geocaching holster

So I have been in search of a holster to use while out hiking and on long backpacking trips. A waist setup with a pack is very uncomfortable and hard to draw from with a hip belt for the pack. I found this and I'm wondering if anybody has one. If so do you like it? Thoughts on the design? I'm leaning towards carrying a 1911. Thanks.

I like it myself. Seems pretty handy. It is a bit pricey for what you're getting imo.

That will be around the price of most of my outdoor gear as it is. I learned a long time ago, not all Cordura is the same. Lol

Thanks for the info. I like the looks of these. I didn't see anything on the website about a warranty, any idea? I may " need" something from these people.

I sent an email to the company asking stuff about the pack. I like how they also have a backpack that attaches to the front pack. That would make one heck of a day/ long weekend bag.

I borrowed a buddy's for about a month and loved it.. When I borrowed it the weather was pretty crappy with all the snow and stuff we have had this year, I used it alot while at work being a bigger guy its hard to pull off my pistol as a CCW so I just threw this on and put my coat on over it, no one was any the wiser. I am a medic so I am in and out of the buggy here in BFE.. I think for the price point you cant go wrong. I do like the idea of hooking a back pack to it as well. The durability seemed amazing and I love the fact that you can hide your zipper pulls and when you need it just give it a good yank and u have immediate access.. I hope this helps...

Yes that actually does help. I guess with all the moving, you didn't noticed it causing any hotspots or jumbling up on one side?

We fully stand behind any defect in materials and workmanship. Normal wear and tear, case by case basis.

I think you're talking about the Tarahumara:

It has a slot pocket that could take a bladder in the same manner that a Camelbak Mule does. That's not really a good setup on the Mule or the Tara because it rounds the pack too much. The Tara is mainly designed to take the bladder on the inside of the main compartment where there is a hang loop for it with the hose exiting out the top of the zipper underneath the zipper garage. This lets you get the bladder in and out very easily, and also prevents the pack from rounding out so much.

Last set of questions. The answers:
All of our Kit Bags come with a mesh backed harness that you wear under whatever backpack you want. They all also accept, and the original comes with, lifter straps that allow you to dock the Kit Bag to pretty much any pack, thereby creating a counterbalanced load. You can see in pictures how that works here (using lifter straps at the bottom of the page):

This is the same way that you'd "dock" a Kit Bag to any of our larger packs and most packs made by other companies as well.

The confusing thing is that we also sell the Runner's Harness (that you can trade for if you want when ordering a Tara) that ties a Kit Bag and one of our smaller backpacks into a single "vest". Personally I would recommend against that. You lose the ability to use KB or Tara by itself without re-rigging, and you're not gaining a lot of stability. You can see what that looks like here (rigging a runner's harness at the bottom of the page):
