An unusual choice, but I like it--a 2" S&W Model 63:

I have a Ciener Conversion on a 1911 frame. Used it as a secondary for an RWI carbine course to test it out. Ran like a champ.

Also have a Nighthawk 22 conversion for the 1911. That thing is sweet, but not as tested (by me) as the Ciener.

If I have to have a 'go to' for a 22 pistol, those would be the ones.

Mine. Ruger MK 2 with AAC integral suppressor, Very quiet and more accurate than most shooters.

If i'm going shooting it is with me. I also have a 1911 with a 22 conversion and an old Iver Johnson 22 revolver.
I was only going to build one...

As much as I love my Browning Challenger I think I would have to go with my Paclite 22/45 with Volquartsen internals. Super lite, great trigger, threaded, feeds anything and fairly accurate. Hard to beat...

Although with a few mods this could possibly make the cut. I love shooting 1911's, the solid .45acp 1911 feel from a .22lr pistol is nice, threaded and accurate. Better sights and a nice trigger could push this over the top. We will see...

Considering most of my .22 "pistol" experience has been with my m&p22, I'll go with that. Just picked up a 22/45 mkIII today so we'll see if that changes

Both are good pistols. The M&P has a marginal trigger and there is little available to do any good to make it any better, being that it's not parts compatible with the rest of the M&P line. It's actually made by Umarex, though it is made of aluminum and not the "pot metal" Zamak alloy. If you really want a full sized .22 trainer, you could do worse than buying the M&P .22.

The SR22 has a much better trigger, both single and double action. It is, however, a compact model and much smaller than the M&P. There have been many upgrade parts made available recently to make an already good pistol a bit better, the chief among them being a ~$10 extended floorplate to extend the grip and allow 15 rds in the magazine.

I own both. I like both. Of the two, IMHO, the SR22 is the better pistol, though both are outstanding suppressor hosts and an excellent value for the money. They both seem able to eat damned near any load you can feed them that is powerful enough to cycle the action (Super Colibris won't cycle any semi-auto pistol I know of), including standard and subsonic loads, though even bulk pack will rarely go supersonic in either pistol, the barrels are too short to garner max velocity, pretty much keeping them all subsonic. This is particularly true of the SR22 with it's sub 4" barrel.

Junk. Don't do it, even at that price. My daughter got one thinking it was like my GSG 1911 22. It's not even close. Ask Cranky, he's seen it when I wanted him to do a trigger job on it.

Thanks for the warning. Just thought it was a good deal. Not so much if it's junk :)
