Ruger BX-25's SUCK!

Post by Toddstang » Sun Mar 31, 2013 8:44 pm

Both my Ruger BX-25's went to shit after 3 reloads today!
Sending these POS back to Ruger this week!
The feed lips fail to feed to the top of the magazine on both.

I had one that wouldn't feed for sheet. I reworked and smoothed out the feed ramp and it started working better. I pretty much stick to the 10 rounders they are all perfect

My first and only one & it won't feed for shit too.
Need to take a rat tail file to the feed lips.
Not really been to keen on them since my first experience with the BX-25 is full of suck.

New or Used?

Try taking it apart and flipping the orange follower.

I took mine apart when I was trying to figure out what was wrong & accidently had the follower flipped the wrong way and it looked something like that.
Could have been installed wrong at the factory.
Their QC is shit.

So after taking them both apart I found that the magazine spring wasnt seated in either mag. WTF??
They were both free floating out of the lip.
Put them back together, correctly!, and will see how they run this weekend.

Sorry. I did forget to update!
After seating the springs correctly they did run flawlessly a few weeks ago.
I ran bout 100 rounds +/- through both mags.

I've never had a problem with mine attributed to the magazine. My A&B barrel is sometimes finicky with mags other than the factory 10 rounders.
Eagerly awaiting the XDS release...

Bentz chamber? A good polishing will help that problem. The Bentz chamber is a great idea in a target rifle, especially a bolt gun, but in a SA, too little tolerance for variances.

As much woofing as I'm reading in this thread about how much they suck, the 12 BX-25 mags I have all work just fine, in more than just one or two rifles. OK, yes, on a couple, I did have to take them apart and seat the springs properly, and Ruger's QC could have been better, but, they were easily fixed and really didn't require additional cost to get them going or sending them in for repair or replacement.
