Need help finding a good set of scope rings for a Marlin 783
I found an old Marlin 783 ( 22 magnum ) that belonged to my father from years ago. I would like to find a good set of scope rings and a very good scope for it. It has the 3/8" ( very, very thin mounting area ) and it looks to be that it will be hard to set very well.. Do you all have any recommendations?
Thanks..
Thanks..

Not drilled & tapped then? This may work on the 700 series Marlins for a solid mount. http://www.diproductsinc.com/Detail.asp ... 1&CAT=3603
As far as scopes go you have many good options depending on budget.

Re: Need help finding a good set of scope rings for a Marlin
Standard tip off rings like Cranky has in stock are perfectly usable and I would suggest a good, but reasonably priced, Mueller APT or APV scope for the optic. I have used this type of scope with great success on several rifles, especially .22 LR & WMR, though one of mine sits atop my .308 Ruger M77 rifle and has held up remarkably well for many years. You might also try to find a used Simmons White Tail scope as they are a great value and have also worked extremely well on a number of my rifles.
There is also a riser available that will clamp on to the standard 3/8" mount that will then take any kind of Weaver or Picatinney ring you care to use.
Good luck with your search.

Re: Need help finding a good set of scope rings for a Marlin
Don't remember any details, but do remember it was on SWFA's website that I saw it on. I opted to stick with tipoff rings because I prefer to keep the scope centerline as close to the bore centerline as possible, a riser will raise the scope unacceptably high for me.
