Re: 10/22 buffers?
Bolt buffer? I have one in my closet. I replaced it with a 1/4" nylon drywall anchor that you can get at a hardware store for change and whack down to the correct length. It is a supposed improvement of some kind. The nylon drywall anchors have a metal stem through the middle.
Just an option...

Re: 10/22 buffers?
yeah- the bolt buffer is what I'm looking for. I know a .22 doesn't need a buffer, but it is supposed to silence the metal 'ping' of the bolt, which is what I'm looking to do...

Found it, 1/4 inch-", length is measure with a stick with a bunch of little marks on it.
Former police and car salesman call them "rulers"
Toolmaker and smart asses call those stick "scales"
They make them that are flexible, rolled up in a little can, these are called "tar measure".

Re: 10/22 buffers?
That nylon buffer is supposedly some kind of worthy modification to a 10/22 and it's very easy. You can get one at Lowe's today for under a dollar and cut it down to size.
Lot's of guys on rimfirecentral.com do this inexpensive upgrade and lots of aftermarket 10/22 parts suppliers sell a similar product.
Good Luck.

Sheesh...
I didn't even know I needed this.
Now I want one.
