picked up a Savage MKII FSS :)... now what?
well I finally got my savage MKII and so I'm loving it so far.. (still have to shoot it) the sights are fiber optic sights with green rear and pink errr... red front sight. the FSS is a stainless steel model so that's nice, has the acutrigger (thank god) and 2 mags.... so I'd like to look into get a scope for it... thinkin about a BSA sweet 22 or something in a similar price range or maybe a little less.. it's gonna end up being christmas though before I'm able to get the scope. But I also wanna look at a different stock for it. It's not gonna be a bench gun so no 5lb stocks... any ideas? I know boyds makes a thumbhole but is there anything else out there? pics to come!

If you're still open to different optics check out the Meuller APT 4-14x. It is absolutely amazing and kicks the shit out of glass that is three times as pricey (ask me how I know FML).

what's the price difference between the muller and the bsa sweet 22?
Till - the acutrigger is a freaking smooth and awesome adjustable trigger that savage uses. Try it, you'll like it!

Not trying to thread jack but I'm picking a MKII GPX up this weekend and interest in same info as you and any advice on upgrades for a long range target .22lr on your same Savage platform also. Can anything be done about the non-accu trigger or is it better to just replace? Also same questions as you, scopes and stocks. I don't care about weight as this just will be a long range target rifle and won't be packing it around much.

are you picking it up in a trade or buying it new? if you're getting it new it'll be worth spending a little more money and getting the acutrigger. I know the cost of that alone to but separate is pricy.

Re: picked up a Savage MKII FSS :)... now what?
He's picking up the one I had for sale. I just bought a MKII with the accutrigger but haven't had a chance to try it yet so can't comment on the accutrigger vs non. I know what little I did to the non helped it some but more could prolly be done. Rifle Basix makes a nice replacement trigger. I never felt the need to replace the G stock, decent wood, and barrel is floated anyways.
Entry level Mueller APV is around $125 but I've enjoyed every penny of that and it was the scope I used on my MKII. The Sweet 22 I have on my Marlin 795 was I think $50, not sure what they go for now, and really isn't that bad. It is definitely better than other scopes I've ran in that price range.
Looking for another scope (sub $100) for my new MKII FVSR once I free up some funds. Going to get the Boyds tacticool stock 1st.

The acutrigger is the only Savage I have ever shot and it was only 8-10 rounds. It was smooth and lite but felt odd. Not sure if I liked it or not. Maybe with some getting used to. It was just different I guess... I will do some shooting and go from there. Seems like I can't go wrong with the Savage or the price...

You can get a Boyd's Tactical stock (the one offered on the MK II TR) for it.
Have a TR, currently with a BSA sweet .22 on it.
Haven't been able to shoot it yet (in Florida) but next week DD and myself should log some range time and I can tell you how I like the setup.
FWIW the TR stock is awesome!
The whole rig is like a mini version of my 10FP.
