my 10/22 1 week build up

Post by etownguy » Wed Jul 11, 2012 12:46 pm

I got rid of the 15-22 to build something a little more accurate and still semi-auto. this is what I have come up with.

stock 10/22 carbine wood stock 18.5" barrel

added parts:
Volquartsen: target hammer, trigger spring, auto bolt release, bolt charge handle/recoil spring, recoil buffer, x-act edge extractor and spring
Power customs extended mag. release
Adam's & Bennett .920 Bull Barrel 18" steel
Tactical Solutions V-Block (holds up the heavy barrel no droop)
Hogue overmolded .920 stock
Talley 1 piece scope mounts
Nikon Prostaff rimfire BDC 150

Worked over:
beveled the rear the bolt for better hammer reset and polished the whole thing
removed all paint from the inside of the receiver and did a half ass polish job smoother bolt movement
polished sear

only thing I still need is a sling mounted bipod.

Still have not shot it that'll come later today or tomorrow.

the prep pad is like this.. it is equivalent to 600 grit I think but takes off paint very well.

other two came in the polishing kit I bought from lowes for the dremel

Quite satisfied with the results! I layed prone at 30 yards with a bi-pod to sight it in that target says M-22 Sight this was 25 shots the far out round were me adjusting the scope into place. Everything else was at a measured 50 yards in a rest on a cheap plastic table that would flex if I leaned on it. This will be the last time I use these targets as seeing the black crosshairs on the black target really strains my eyes and it all gets blurry.

Nice build. A different stock will get you better results.

I like the simplicity of it.

I am currently torn between the Archangel target stock which is getting decent reviews and the Hogue.

Have you tried other stocks to compare to the Hogue?

No I am not going to get another stock for it. To me not worth the extra money to MAYBE shrink the groups a millimeter.

I really doubt you would shrink your groups any. The non wood stocks will just keep your zero better as the temps and humidity and what not will cause the wood to shift your point of impact.

I am loving this gun got a chance to do some 200+ yard shooting this weekend. After a bunch of cranking on the elevation it was dead on. I was semi reliably hitting a metal fence post at 200 yards.
