As I have always said, .22 LR is no toy, especially in a rifle. The idea of "less lethal" related to .22s is ludicrous.

I read somewhere that more people are killed with the .22 LR round than any other caliber. Whether this is true, or not, I sure as hell wouldn't want to take one in my delicate person!

Crush, kill, mangle, maim, destroy.

cliffs
It seems it's hard to keep your motivation to throw rocks with a 40-grain round in your shin.

Gary Roman got shot in the shoulder with a .22 at close range.
He said it hurt.

Read a story of a downed Forward Observer in the late part of Vietnam, using a 10/22 , apparently the rifle his dad had sent him as a lark, little recoil, muzzle flash, and fairly quiet and scoped kept the Viet Cong at bay enough time, to let the PJ,s get two him, story was there were at least half a dozen communist surrounding his little hideout, well aimed head shots seemed to work. I don't know if he had expended the ammo in his M16A1 or not.
