Picked up a 10-22 made in 1968

Nice well used older gun I picked up at the flea Market. I think it has the bolt guides and a hammer forged bolt as the major differences other than the metal trigger guard, butt plate and walnut stock. I have never been a 10-22 fan so I am trying to decide what to do with it. I am trying to decide if i want to fix it up or just trade it to something I want a little more. Maybe cut it to 16" thread it add a folding stock to make a compact toy? Should a 45 year old gun be cut up or restored? Sugestion?

I only see 2 types of 10-22, Bull barrel with a big scope or Ar15 clone. I was thinking light weight and small. anyone done that? Maybe take a blackhawk stock and skeletonize it for weight reduction cut the barrel to 16" and maybe taper it a bit more or flute it for even more weight reduction. Maybe a scout scope mounted forward of the reciever. Maybe just trade it off since I never shoot any of my 22 rifles as it is. Somebody motivate me with some good Ideas.

Don't cut up an old, original, 10/22. If you want to do what you describe, sell it to me and buy a newer one to cut up. Or, I could go buy one and trade it to you for the older one. It needs someone who will care for it and take care of it as it needs to be cared for.

My opinion, fwiw,
