Double barrel shotgun!
I wanting a cheap side by side double barrel shotgun.
Something fun to shoot. 18-20" barrel.
Where do I start to look?
What to stay away from?

Re: Double barrel shotgun!
Sxs seems like a simpke enougj concept, but id suggest a lot of research to decide if you want a cheap one or not. Id LOVE one but the market on yhose drags me waaay to the pricey side and i am cheap as hell

Double barrel shotgun!
Needs double triggers. 2 barrels at once. I'm not sure any o/u's do that.

Older o/u do have double triggers. And will fire both barrels at the same time.Marcus wrote:Needs double triggers. 2 barrels at once. I'm not sure any o/u's do that.
Most now have a single selective trigger. You choose which barrel to fire first then pull the trigger again and the other barrel fires.
Webley & scott and fausti make great sxs's.
If its just for recreational use any will do.

Double barrel shotgun!
I would recommend Stoeger Coach guns. They come in a lot of different variations as far as triggers and chokes are concerned. These are the most affordable and reliable S x S out there. Most are around 400.00

Re: Double barrel shotgun!
I know this is an older thread, but of the sxs/ou shotguns I've had, there are a couple that stand out. For sxs, my favorite was a CZ Bobwhite in 20 gauge. English stock, double triggers, extractors, screw in chokes. Beautiful gun, great shooter, but I sold it to a buddy to help finance a Ruger Red Label 12 gauge. Never should have sold it, cause when I'm gunning ducks/geese I still use my 20 and the 12 stays home. I also have a Stevens 311 20 gauge, good solid gun for a lower budget. That one got cut down to 24" and had sights installed, I use it strictly for slugs.
For a good economy ou, I love the Red Label. Single trigger, ejectors, screw in chokes. So easy to shoot, birds die when that gun comes up.
I'd give up lots to get my hands on a Ruger Gold Label (12 gauge sxs), but can't justify the cost as they rarely come up for sale here, and when they do they are around 3-4000 bucks.
I don't like a 12 with double triggers. Maybe I'm recoil-sensitive, but I had a Zoli ou with double triggers and it wasn't fun touching both off at the same time.

Re: Double barrel shotgun!
well i just pick up a cheap ERA brazilian SXS. has the 26" barrel i believe. looks like its unfired. got 100$ in it.
now the question is do i get cranky to shop it down to 18-20" or leave it alone.
