Stoeger 3000 issues

I aquiered a Stoeger 3000 3" 12ga with some cycling issues. It's assbackwards as normal it seems to me. It cycles 2 3/4" low powered shells fine, but higher powered ones or 3" shells won't eject. Is there a buffer spring or something that could be weak and letting it cycle too fast to let function?

It's around 5 years old and had quite a few rounds through it and not cleaned often. 95% of the time it's had hot 3" shells run in it, and the reason I got it cheap.

Is the spent shell staying in the chamber, or is it extracting but not clearing the port?

Extracting, but not clearing the port.

It has a new extractor also. The only thing he tried.

Polish the mag tube, if you pull the handguard off you will see the spring and just polish the tube where it rides. If the extractor is sticking you need to pull the bolt apart and deburr the extractor sides and add a little grease in there. You can also run a benelli m2 extractor if you want to upgrade. Best bet is to give it to me and I'll fix it and run it lol

That's the extractor he just put in it. No change. It's had lots of rounds through it, quite a few thousand 3" hunting shells, and a few hundred 2 3/4" lighter loads and just recently stopped cycling hotter shells. Still cycles light loads perfect.
Do I need to pay you anything to take it or are you just taking it out of the goodness of your heart? haha

words and stuff
I'll take a box of shells as payment to take it from you. Let me call a stoeger sponsored shooter and see what he says real fast and get back to you. If you really can't get it to run and want to offload it let me know. I could use a loaner/backup 3gun shotgun.

Few questions....
When ejecting is a live round trying to chamber at the same Time?

Have you fully disassembled the bolt, check the inertia spring to see if it's cracked at all.

Is this happen ing every round or occasionally?

Check your ejector against some factory pics, look for damage.

Look for odd wear in the recoil/inertia system and the bolt and post up some pics of the internals.

Also Stoeger has good customer support, if you call them they will help you out and send parts or have you send them the gun. They will take care of you.

Sounds good, I appreciate any advice. I'll let you know if I get rid of it. I rarely shoot anything other than 2 3/4 7-8 shot cheap shells, so it's fine for now. I figure if something wearing out or messing up, it will eventually stop cycling everything.

It's every time. I can't remember if it was trying to double feed or not, I don't think it was though. It's been a while since I was messing with it with the guy I'm getting it from. I haven't done anything with it yet, I was just gathering some options to start looking for when I do mess with it. I haven't even picked it up from my buddy yet.

Probably right at 5 years. Just over or under. I was with him when he bought it from Dicks, I just can't remember exactly when...

Connect Stoeger and run the S/N pass then and see what they say.

If it will not feed three inch I will bet it is worn parts with so many three inch fired. I would check the length of the returnspring(s) aginist a reference of new parts.

Using 2 3/4 7.5 shot Super X it did this 3 (1 of those was unsupported shot like a pistol to see if it would) out of 25 rounds. It fails the exact same way 24 or 25 out of 25 rounds with hotter 3" shells.Image

Compare your ejector to factory pics and specs. If it checks out just call Stoeger. They will walk you through fixing it even if it is out of warranty.

Autocorrect got me. Fixed it.

Find a parts diagram and look for the ejector. Compare it to this. http://www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/prod/33541
