1966 Belgium Browning Light 12...value?

Post by kokopelli » Sun Mar 13, 2016 8:54 pm

29 1/2" vent rib barrel, rounded pistol grip, gold trigger, 2 3/4" shells.
Full choke.
Wood is in really nice condition, bluing looks nice.

What's a ballpark figure on this for value?

This is out of my realm of knowledge, would consider the blue book of gun values on this one.

So went and looked a bit. Appears that it should be Belgian made which is good. The slight marring will hurt it a little I imagine. Cheapest one sold on Gunbroker was like 625 and they go up from there but there are not a lot of them but neither do a lot of them sell. My best guess would be between 700 to 800 dollars based on what I see there and a few collector sites.

This one looks like a pretty close match to yours. Looks like more in the $1200-1300 range.

Somewhere between Dave's number and the one in my post I'd say.

Well I would say you had better look at SOLD items. That is what I do. Like going to a gun show...you can ask whatever the hell you want to but unless you sell...ain't nobody buying overpriced stuff. Like in the real estate business, its only fair market value if a willing buyer pays the price from a willing seller.

yeah- asking prices are all over the place..that's why I'm hoping someone knows these old Brownings and can narrow down the value on it.

If it's got any value, I'm going to leave it alone, if not, I've got some customizing ideas for it...

Updated post- it's actually a 29 1/2" full choke barrel. Finally got the mag tube cap off and found a broom handle end homemade plug.

From the photos it looks like the younger big brother to the 1957 Browning Sweet Sixteen my father gave me. If you are going to shoot it, be sure to place the "bronze friction ring" on the mag tube in the proper orientation for high or low pressure loads. Helps the shotgun and the shooter. Nice "humpback ". Geno

yeah- this was my Dad's; I know he hunted deer, turkey, pheasant, quail, doves, rabbit, squirrl...and probably more with it. I took it apart and saw he had it set up correctly for heavy loads.

I'm going to try to get out this weekend to shoot and take it along.

That's a purdy scattergun. I've always wanted one like that, but never found one I could afford at the time. Same with wanting a Remington 1100, never could find one I had the money to spend on it.

Love my 1100. It's a 1967 26" mod cyl
