Which one to buy?
I have a chance to buy either a Rem. 870 Express or a Win. Ranger 120 12 gage shotgun. Both are used, 28" vent rib barrels (boo), with screw-in chokes. The Win. has a nicely blued receiver, wooden stock and forearm, and a little surface rust on barrel. The Rem. has parkerized finish and black synthetic stock and forearm. My intention is to cut barrel down to 18 1/2- 20" for home defense. I get get either for $200. I already have a Rem. 870 with synthetic stock and forearm and factory 2 shot magazine extension. I am leaning toward the Win. at the moment.
Cutting grass is the price I gladly pay for not being cold.

Remington would be the way to go. If I remember correctly the Rangers are aluminum receivers and weren't sold for much more then $200 new. The 870 has pages and pages of upgradeable parts and gadgets. The Ranger, not so much.

I would go with the 870. Lots more goodies available and parts interchangeability with the one you already have.
I was only going to build one...

870 can do more with it.

I have decided to buy the 870. I will be taking the Win. 120 to Awesome flea market tomorrow. These belong to my brother and he needs the cash to pay for his bankruptcy ( lol).
