Best semi-auto 12ga on the cheap.
I have a buddy looking for a cheap semi-auto 12ga to duck hunt and shoot clays with. He got tired of his 870 and wants to save his "pump arm" for other hobbies...haha I know jack shit about semi-auto shotguns. What are some if the best bang for his buck? Anyone have a deal on one?

There is that newer Remington semi auto that shoots all loads of ammo through it with an advanced gas system that everybody seems to love. I forgot the name but it should be easy to find.

Holy shit! That thing is $1300-1400... He won't drop that on one. He has gun and likes to hunt but is not a "gun guy" so to speak...

haha To gun nuts like us, yes. To him, not even a 1st thought about that much less a second thought about buying it...haha Crazy ass people that don't have gun fever! I don't even know why I've been friends with his goofy ass since middle school...haha
I think he is looking for about the $750 or less range.

Re: Best semi-auto 12ga on the cheap.
Stoeger. It has a copied Benelli action and is available in several barrel lengths and several finishes. I have the older version M2000. It shoots everything from 2 3/4"-3" magnums without any changes needed. The stoegers don't offer the recoil reducers that are found in benellis but they really don't have terrible recoil when using heavy duck loads. I've used mine for duck hunting, boat paddle, skeet, dove, sporting clays and its performed very well. It did freeze once and the action was sluggish but that's my only complaint. The new version is called the Model 3000 and they have a model that shoots the 3 1/2" now called the 3500.

On buds they have a Silver Eagle 12 ga that has all good reviews. I have no experience with it but the reviews seem great with no exceptions and the shotgun costs about $360 from them.

I shoot a Remington SPR semi-auto. It's been a great gun. Shoots 2 3/4 to 3 1/2 inch shells. Has screw in chokes. Kinda bulky but great if you're cranking out the heavy goose and turkey loads. Had it forever and the only problem I have is that if I leave her sit for a while it doesn't like the lower powered loads. I'd be careful though. It is made in Russia by Baikail and parts and service are getting hard to come by.

Whittakers usually has a handful of used benellis under $750. That's where I'd be taking my $$$

The Tri-Stars I handled seemed to be okay for a cheaper shotgun, never owned one though.
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.
