for shtf, my go to is my 590A1, it's hard to kill. In three gun, I use a mossberg 930jm pro, because it's fast. For rabbit, and other small game, I use an 870 20 gage, because it's llght.

ok, go to for what? I have shotguns for many uses, I have many shotguns LOL Cover my go to's
Clays = Browning 525 Sporting, grade III, 30", not ported
Upland = Rem 1100 LT20 Special Field
Turkey = Rem 1100 SP 3" mag only, parquerized, 26"
Deer = Savage 220F 20ga. W Bush 4200 1.25-4x24
HD = Stainless Moss 500 cruiser 7+1 pistol grip, heat shield, Surefire WL fore end, bandolier sling ...... gun ammo light in one swoop.

Mossberg 500. Love my 870 too. But I've had more time and experience on the 500

Older thread but whatever. For killing birds, my Ruger red label 20 gauge with mod/ic chokes. Hand of God this shotgun, if it flies it dies. For general can-killing or making noise, my Win 1200 modified with hacksaw barrel job and mag extension. For a poor man's double gun, my old Stevens 311 20 gauge ("custom" 24" barrels and cheapo express sights) blows holes in anything out to 70 yds with rifled slugs.

870 with +3 extension tube is my only one and I like it simple and 1000% reliable.

However my "available to me" absolute favorite is dads browning citori gold o/u that gun and I just get along it basically aims itself!

I'm torn here. I had an 870 and a Mossberg 500 that both satisfied my need for defense but I liked shooting the 870 more...but I could never hit better than 2 out of 10 clay pigeons in a single outing where I could hit more like 8 out of 10 with a Browning A5.

I gave my vote to 870 still but I'm better with an A5.

My 870.
In the process of getting it setup.
Holds 11 rounds, need a barrel clamp, light, XS Big Dot sight, and a sling yet.
Also, I would like to pick up a rifled deer barrel to shoot sabots & a scope.
Maybe, a few different length barrels and mag extensions too.

(I like guns like this that can be changed easily. Dress it up, dress it down. A lot of aftermarket options. Kinda like the AR of the shotgun world.)

Benelli Nova because its the only shotgun I have that holds more than 1 round...haha Needs tube extension and a light.
