Bobbed my hammer

Post by SHARP1983 » Sat Jan 26, 2013 3:06 pm

Got the dremel out today and attacked my 2.5" SP101 Ruger. Decided to bob the hammer for CCDW purposes and removed the SA notch to make it DAO. Next thing to do is a front night sight, Wolf spring kit, and some new grips along with a good overall polishing. Will post pics shortly.

Planned on a 10# mainspring and a 8# trigger return spring along with trigger, hammer, and dog ear shims along with a polish of the trigger parts. The Wolf kit comes with several different weights of springs. I think the factory mainspring is a 14# and the trigger return is 10#.

Plan on setting down and actually shaping the hammer to the back of the revolver.

And does the trigger return spring do something else too??
Answer me that question.

It's suppose too help lighten the trigger pull some since your not compressing a 10# spring. When you pull the trigger your pulling against both the return and main spring.

Ordered a Wolf spring kit along with shims, Meprolight front night sight, and Hogue grips. Will install all this along with a trigger polish this coming weekend. Need to find some 2000+ grit sandpaper to polish the trigger along with some Mother's mag polish to clean up the stainless.

Most any auto parts store should have both.
