Model 686
I have been looking after this s&w for my mom for a little while now. Curious about a couple things as I'm not very familiar with wheel guns.

Re: Model 686
Basically I'm looking for age of the gun, anything specific I should look for as far as wear goes.
She has been kicling the idea of selling or tradeing it for something smaller as she wants to persue her ccdw so a rough estimate of worth would be helpful.
Thanks

That's purty. If she decides she wants to sell it, let me know.

Re: Model 686
On the inside of the hinge you should see the model #
I bought mine in 85 & it is a 686 no dash. It & 686-1 & 686cs-1 had a recall on them in the late 80s. If the modification has been made there should be a M stamped above the model #. I just found out about the recall last year & S&W I called them. They sent a label for me to send it to them & had it back within 2 weeks.

Once you find the model/dash number you should be able to find a little info with a search online.
If she decides to sell it LMK as mine has the 6" barrel. Would love to get the 8". Great target & hunting revolver.
As far as wear you can't wear a Smith out. Shoots smoother with use.

Re: Model 686
I'll get a serial number asap, I appreciate it. I thought the one picture I had was clearer then it is.
