JHPs

Post by KYgundude » Sun May 28, 2023 10:46 am

I typically cycle a couple boxes of JHPs through a weapon to make sure it can feed them reliably before I will trust them for self defense. What's people's thoughts on wheel guns? I'm going to keep my GP100 loaded with JHPs. I'm thinking I will fire one cylinder of the stuff and says, "Yeah, the firing pin works on these". Thoughts?

I would agree. With a semi auto the only issue is typically feeding with JHPs. Not really an issue with a revolver.

Never had an issue with a revolver. From JHP to wad cutters that were seated flush with case. Only problem I’ve ever heard was if the timing was off a little on the cylinder rotation & that’s extremely rare.

Only thing with wheel guns is making sure hammer spring is not getting weak

They were a blast to shoot. Some 158gr CCI JHPs I got off Niceguy. Flew through a couple of cylinders in the GP and they make remarkable fireballs. Hotter than my ball ammo. I like having a DA Revolver handy for middle of the night type home defense. It's hard to fuck up firing one. I previously ran 38 Wadcutters to prevent it from going through walls but after much research, when brick is not involved, I've concluded the wads are punching right through just like the JHPs do, so might as well have the big boy rounds in her.
