How should I refinish my Citadel 1911? black or tan or both?
Ok. Gots me a Citadel full size 1911. As with other Armscor guns, it has a weak parkerized finish.
I want to put a finish on it, Norell's Moly Resin to be precise. I've already got some flat black and plan on getting some tan.
So- I'm thinking of doing the slide and frame in all tan and the small parts -safeties, bushing, etc in black. I also have some sandy color Skin Gripz. This would make it look like a Sig Desert Warrior clone...
Option two is all black with either the stock wood grips or the tan Skins.
Option three is two tone- tan frame, black slide and small parts.
I'm leaning toward the all tan with black bits.
What do you think?
here's how it sits now with different grips. I also have the VZ style dimpled and the stock walnut DD checkered wood...
Here's how it would look all tan with the grips-
Desert Warrior:
and Sig Scorpion:
hey- where's the 'add a poll' option?

I like the desert warrior colors. Darker grips are better but the Sigs grips aren't as good looking.

I hate the big banner on the side of it. If you're going to refinish it already, fill that in while you're at it. Obviously be careful on the frame as then you get in to modifying a serialized part. Nice 1911. Some members on here have some nicely done RIA's. The one I'm thinking of was done by ArmorHyde.
Oh yah, you can take this time to ditch a few MIM parts as well. I'd lose the slide stop and safety.

That one is awesome.
Why the Tan hating? Why all the OD groupies? I thought Desert/Coyote/FDE/Sand/Tan was the Tacticool color of the moment!!

Depends.
If you have other 1911's that are black and other's that are blue, I'd go tan. Like the look of the sig scorpian....Next purchase if I can get the wife's nose out of the check book.........

My wife says I need a "gun collection intervention"
