Colt Expert Opinion Needed
Hi guys ...
I haven't had a lot of experience with Colt's and I have a chance to trade into one ... or possibly buy it outright...
Can those of you that have had experience give me an idea of what it may be worth ...?
It's a 1991 model ... made (I believe) in 1995 ... Looks like 4.25 " bbl... but not sure...
Thanx,
Allan

$700 on GunBroker Probably $600 in real life. That is if used, not like new. Looks like fixed sights.Mike wrote:Maybe $700? Might be a high estimate though.

Yes its a 4.25" barrel. Some companies make other lengths that they call Commanders but the Colt has always been that length.
The 1991 is Colt's entry level pistol. Some were coated, some were blued. They typically have a plastic trigger pad and main spring housing, but if that's an issue you can change them out easily.
Its an S80 pistol, but not necessarily a bad thing. Some people say they don't "feel" right, personal preference.
Yours looks like its had a few parts swapped (slide stop, thumb safety, grips) but if you can check it for function before buying that might not matter.
Do you know the seller? Someone you know or a dealer?
Just my opinion but I'd say in the 450-500 dollar range.

Thanx guys ...
I appreciate all the info ...
I went ahead and did the trade ... It's in real nice shape ... the usual wear and usage markings on it ...
I stripped it down tonight and gave it a good sonic cleaning ... put it all back together and it is really nice and smooth.
Pretty nice trigger ... not any take up and breaks nice and clean ... Nice feel to it. I put some other wood grips on it that I liked better (for now ... )
I'm going to get it out to the range this weekend and give it a good workout.
Came out pretty good on the trade and don't have a lot in it. If I like it, I think it'll stay in the safe.
Thanx again for your input.
