Need opinion on a Springfield Loaded 1911
What is the general consensus on these guns? I am being offered one in trade on my ar I have for sale. This is the all black model. I have never owned a 1911, so not sure what to look for. What do these go for used with all the gear springfield includes? Thanks.

Springfields are solid 1911s and The the Springfield loaded is good to go. If you decide it's not for you, you will have very little issue trading or selling it later on down the road.

Yessir. Regret selling it but it went to a family member who will be selling it back to me mid January/beginning of February. I'm no 1911 expert by a long shot like mk or mike. But I loved the loaded model.

I don't have a Springfield so cannot speak for that particular brand but once you buy one 1911 they seem to want to multiply!!!

I'd like a Springfield Loaded. The 5" model, no rail. Solid black except the trigger and hammer.

Re: Need opinion on a Springfield Loaded 1911
I've never regretted buying any Springfield and I've only ever owned the entry level models. As others say, solid choice. I've sold one, regretted it, and its now mine again. People seem to like dicking with them, so just make sure its not altered in a way to make it unsafe. Then feed it as much ammo as you can afford.
Re: Need opinion on a Springfield Loaded 1911
I have a loaded and sd a different one a while ago
The ones with "NM" prefixes on the serial numbers seem to be more in demand as they are American made/assembled and the general consensus is they are better built firearms. My first wasn't an "nm" gun and had several spots that the fit and finish were not that great. My "non" gun I have now is my best shooting 1911. It's nice.
I sold my last for around $700. Seems about the going used rate around $700-$800

Re: Need opinion on a Springfield Loaded 1911
I have an NM loaded. I think its the best 1911 I could get for the price point. Its accurate as hell. The only things I've don to mine are....Hogue grips, replaced MSH with a standard flat MSH, installed new MS cap, and a Ed Brown mainspring. I also stripped down the slide and cleaned it well to remove any factory grease(but I do that to every gun I buy).

Re: Need opinion on a Springfield Loaded 1911
I don't know that I agree with the NM=better statements. I've got two Mil Specs, on being an NM serial. The non NM is the better pistol. Its better finished, it had all edges dehorned at factory, and fit is not tighter, but more consistent. They both have the same barrel. Not saying they aren't good, just don't agree that NM means better. Of my 6 Springfields, 3 are NM serialed. I love them all, but one isn't better than another (except for the Mil Spec).Mike wrote:I have a loaded and sd a different one a while ago

All steel Springfield 1911s start out in Brazil, some are finished there, some are finish machined and assembled in the States. If it doesn't have Made in Brazil/Imbel markings on it, all that means is enough of the assembly/finishing was done to qualify it as "American made."

Visual comparison of an NM to a non NM. Not the Loaded, but I would argue that the Mil Spec is the same quality. The Loaded has a few extra features but is the same pistol.

Nothing major, just a few details on the fit and finish of the parts. Personally, I wouldn't get hung up on what the serial number starts with.

Not definitive proof of one being better than the other haha. Just some of the details.
That pistol is my guinea pig for honing my shade tree 'smithing "skills". And its my throwing pistol.

Re: Need opinion on a Springfield Loaded 1911
I'm not saying NM guns are "better", but there IS a higher demand for them because people BELIEVE they are better. Honestly it doesn't matter if they are or aren't, if people BELIEVE they are better, then they command higher prices.
I did say that between the two Loaded models I had it was an obvious difference. It was to the point that I took comparison pics but I can't find them right now. The NM gun had a better slide to frame fit and a better MSH cut out. Side by side it was clear one was finished better. I sold the non-NM one and kept my NM one. No big deal.
I added a magwell and some VZ grips and it's all it needs.
