Tisas 1911 or rock island 1911?
well in my pursuit of another 1911 I'm looking at Tisas 1911s and Rock Island 1911s... I have rock island and like them well enough but no idea about Tisas.. any one have experience with them? looks like they will run around the same price in the pid $300s.... Tisas didn't have anything on their website for warrantees or returns... thoughts gentleman? I wanna keep it around $400 out the door.... then I can tweak on it...

Buds currently has 2 models of the RIA on sale:
The GI for $329:
http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/prod ... guns/1911s
The Tactical for $349:
http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/prod ... Parkerized
My choice of the 2 would be the Tactical. The majority of reviews I've read of RIA 1911's have been very positive. I'm tempted to pick one up myself, especially at those prices.

I had never heard of the Tisas until I opened this thread. Based on no knowledge of them, and if prices are comparable, I'd go with the RIA. The two I own are good pistols, and even if they are only an entry level pistol, I like to spend my money on something that has something of a track record.
I fear change, and Turkish pistols. Can't justify it, just how I am.

Re: Tisas 1911 or rock island 1911?
My RIA lost the front sight after seven rounds first time firing it.
The grip safety was sharp and it would only feed ball ammo until I throated/polished the feed ramp.
I have repair/built /customized several 1911 patterns from different manufactures.
And went with the RIA for the price / quality.
No experence with Turkish 1911 , but several other Turk made guns.
Not impressed with the quality of those.
Even Turkish 98 Mausers had different thread sizes in a manufacture run.

If you need some help with your 1911 I'd be glad to have a look at it for you Cranky! These things can be fussy if you dick with them and don't know what you're doing. Best to leave it to the pros!guncrank1 wrote:My RIA lost the front sight after seven rounds first time firing it.

Actually, I agree. Have handled a few Turk 1911's and just wasn't impressed, especially for the price they were asking. I'd pass, buy something else. Hell, buy an Auto Ordnance before buying a Turk pistol.

Well sorry but I fiddle with it, and finally fixed it myself.
I am afraid that the pros here would fluck it up worse.
Especially the certified and " master" ones.
