What 1911 Frame should I go with?
I have a couple of 1911 top ends put together and a bunch of parts. One commander and one full size. I am now looking for a couple of frames to build them on. These are going to be range blaster/mellon busting, Mall ninja back up guns.
What frame Mfg would you recommend? I am giving a little thought to a railed frame for my light/laser combo. That way when I take phone pictures of it, it is tacti-cool. The Double Star made here in Kentucky kind of caught my attention, being close to home.
Links are appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian

I built mine on a Dbl star frame with minimal effort. Good looking gun that people always think is WW2 because I used a Remington Rand re-parked slide. Would highly recommend them especially since they are pretty cheap (got mine for $99 I believe)
If you look halfway down the page on the link below you will see my pistol I built. Its the top one along with the two bottom ones which are original 1911's from WW2.

What sort of slide/barrel combos are you talking? Depending on their quality and worth, your choices could be easier.

Re: What 1911 Frame should I go with?
Here are my future fun guns. First is a commander length with the dove tail cut for a sight. Needs the other end cut. The second is a full length slide with a dove tail cut on the other end. I also have 2 Colt barrels, one in 38 super one 45, both series 70 mk 4. I also have most the various parts to assemble them. I need a commander length barrel. and a grip safety that has a bevertail for commander style hammers. I am sure everything is going to take some fitting to make them nice but that is the fun part of the project. I'm going to have to farm out the sight install but I think I can do most of the rest myself.
Does anyone recognize the sight cut on the commander slide? I do not have the rear sight it was cut for.

Novak sight cut
I would build a double stack Caspain ,9x23 win. The caspain double stack frame is built around a 38 super, it holds like 19 or 20 rounds inside the grip. could base it off your 38 super and have a cooper super 9.
