1911 Issue (Sear Spring)

Post by 1fastmach1 » Sun Nov 10, 2013 12:10 pm

I know many people are familiar with the 1911 platform so many people could prolly field this question. The bottom of the sear spring has a little tab that goes into the frame of the gun that keeps the spring from sliding down. Could that tab being broken off cause all sorts of issues ranging from the hammer not always locking back after racking the slide, the trigger not working each time you pull it to release the hammer, as well as the half cock position not working? I'm pretty sure I've got it together correctly. It is a series 80 1911 so it has the extra two pieces on the inside. It seems to be all together right aside from the sear spring. It just isn't test functioning as I have described. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes that could happen
And make sure the plunger on the firing moves freely
The lever for the trigger is in the correct position along with the one for the firing pin block
