Cz85B..... project gun...

Post by CCRBUM » Tue Feb 28, 2017 8:19 am

So I picked up a cz-85B as a project gun for my wife so that she can get into more shooting events with me. Its a '96 surplus and had the typical wear and tear you've come to expect. Mechanically it was just fine though.

Unfortunately I didn't get a lot of before pics but I did think to get this one after I stripped it down prior to being refinished.

Trying to find out what color my wife wanted without askin her directly was like pulling teath. So n with n a little help from my sister-in-law and a friend I narrowed it down to a couple options... settled on burnt bronze and O.D. green.

Color infusions did a great job! I'm beyond happy with how it turned out. Wife was really stoked about it too. Next step with be grips, sights, oversized controls and then when she's more comfortable with the pistol, we will put a Cajun gun works kit in it. For now I just have to teach her how to shoot it better lol.

They did it right. Blasted it and prepped before spraying. Zero issues with the finish or any chips while putting sights and pins back in.

so ...not sure what you paid for the refinish job, but you could have likely gotten a "like new" CZ75B from different places for about 450 bucks...with not so many rounds through it....

I'm $450 total into it. I didn't want a new one I wanted a project my wife and I could work on. I like the 85 more than the 75 because of the ambi controls too. So at this point she has a nice CZ 85 colored how she wants for $450. But to go by your logic, guys should just get an already built custom Glock rather than have the fun of
Building it up themselves. Part of the fun is the process :)
