Finally broke my USPc 45 firing pin!

Well, it took around 15 years and somewhere in the 8K rounds ( USP Compact 45, AB date code) , but my firing pin finally had it.

Apparently they changed the firing pin block in 2005 to resolve this issue. I just took 10 more years to get there...

I worked the numbers and sending it to HK is around $100 (stupid overnight), so I'm thinking I'm just going to tackle it myself. From what I heard, the parts are around $45 if you get them straight from HK Customer Service. Wyldman, you may want to look into it as well. I know you have the same one in black!

Thanks, Carlos, I'll have to look into getting one for my USPc/T. It's still my favorite .45 suppressor host.

Are you sure a new firing pin costs $45? That seems pretty high, even for H&K.

Uh, no. Just no.

While I'm not generally a Hi-Point snob (I actually really like thier carbines), I find thier handguns to be less than accurate enough to suite me.

No, the pin is cheaper than that. Basically the firing pin, a new roll pin, the new style firing pin block (this is the key), and two new springs costs ~$45.

What date code do you have? Yours might already have the new firing pin block:
A B C D E F G H I K
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

Mine is AB, which means it was built in 2001. AF date codes started shipping with the new style block, and everything after is DEFINITELY the new style.

I tried to convince HK customer service to follow the Hi-Point method way. "Yeah, that sounds bad. Don't even bother sending it to us... what's your address? We'll send you a new one."

He wasn't biting... :lol:

I just checked mine, it's date code is AH, which decodes to 2007, so it would appear mine's got the updated parts from the factory.
