I love my Shield .40. Thinking about getting the 9 as well.

I'm honestly not even a fanboy of any particular brand or model other than HK. I don't carry any of my HK stuff. But, this shield is sweet. I really enjoy it after the carry kit I installed. It's a beast. I just wished it held more rounds. Then again if I wear basketball shorts, I still carry it. I'm a fan.

Same here. My safe is a mix of everything. Out of every carry gun I have owned, the Shield is by far my favorite.

I've been carrying a safety less shield for 2 years. The safety pops right out.

I actually want a XDS in .45 but I've heard so many horror stories about then since the recall.

I've heard good and bad. Mine was bad. I loved the gun when it functioned. Just had no faith in it. Light strikes and it wouldn't go fully into battery at least 25% of the time. Even after I got it back from them fixing that issue the primer strikes still looked like shit. Didn't keep it long enough to see if it started light striking again or not.

I like my PF 9 ,the only thing is the crap finish.
But a little cerokote will take care of that.

Maybe one of these days I will do a fluff/buff/refinish.

In fact I may go for a "rat rod" look with a finish top cost with Never Wet.

I still haven't had a single issue out of mine, pre or post recall. Just put a PRP spring kit in it to reduce the trigger pull a little.

My brother shot my Shield .40 and liked the feel but, like you, didn't like the recoil of the .40. He bought the 9mm and loves it.
