Sig P6 or P225

Post by justang1997 » Sun Dec 22, 2013 10:39 pm

Has anyone seen any german Sig p6 pistols for sale anywhere? What are they going for these days? Trying to convince my wife to carry a 9mm instead of her makarov.

I owned one. Great pistol. Haven't seen one in a while and the ones I have are much more expensive than they used go be. For a single stack 9mm, they are not appreciably smaller than a double stack. That's why I no longer own mine.

This. I had one as well, great gun, but a 226 isn't much larger and may be priced the same by now. Bought mine for like $299?? in 2008.

Looking at pictures it seems to be same size as a p229 which I have and am familiar with but I was hoping the single stack would make it noticibly thinner. I'd really like a p6 instead of a new p225

For the way the P6 was produced and the weight of the gun, they are over priced now if you ask me. Thinner? Not much thinner then most double stacks.
No more are being imported as I know. CenterFire hasn't sold them in a long time.
Didn't know Sig was making a new p225??
The old P225 was the same as the P6 just a different trigger.
Also, for a woman, unless she has man hands, this is not a womans gun.

Those prices are really high for a heavy single stack 9.
Just sayin.
I liked mine, but no way is that gun worth $400+

I don't think there have been "new" ones since 2010.

The German Police P6 trade ins are apparently long gone as of a couple of years ago. I got one for my birthday a couple of years ago and I like it well enough. As has been said, they are all steel, therefore pretty heavy, and single stack, but not much smaller than a P226. If I needed a weapon to fight with and it was the only one available, I wouldn't be terribly unhappy, as long as I had enough spare mags to go with it. It's not an ideal CCW weapon, but could be used in that capacity. They are extremely accurate and durable weapons.

I wish I could get her to carry a double stack. Her makarov usually sits in the damn glovebox anyways so it's not like the added size would be an issue. But she likes the mak. I have no issues with its reliability but it is a weaker round from a shorter barrel with less capacity. If it was 9mm she could shoot it more and without the cost and trouble finding 9x18. And the 9mm sd rounds are better.
