M1 Carbine Owners?
I've been looking very heavily at one and just wanted some input from actual owners as far as likes and dislikes, pros and cons.
Also wondering where to start looking for the best price on one?
I just think it would be an enjoyable rifle for me to own/shoot.
Thank you for your time.

I can't believe no one has chimed in on this. I've wondered the same things you are asking and agree it seems it would be a fun addition to own...

Iown one. They are fun to shoot but I always forget I have it and to take it to the range. Several shops around have them but pretty high. I would probably just look on gunbroker for one around five to sixhundred at the most. An odd caliber that I don't have a lot of ammo for so that limits the shooting as well.

Re: M1 Carbine Owners?
I think the prices are high because they are a cool little carbine with some historical ties, not because they are particularly good. Like Dave said, oddball cartridge. I'd rather have an M14 or something like it. Not saying they are bad rifles, my only experience with them is the couple that my buddies own/have owned. Haven't fired one that really impressed me, is all.
My $0.02.

Look for one with a registered receiver or trigger group.
You might be able to find one around 6k.
The semi is fairly unimpressive.

The M1 Carbine is, perhaps, the most underrated firearm our military has ever produced. It's perfect for engaging targets within 200 yards.
Having said that, buy military production only. After 1973, when the weapon was officially decommissioned, everyone and their grandma was making their own version. It spawned a billion aftermarket variants and magazines that are usually rated as junk. Military make 15 round magazines are between $15-25 each. 30 round mags are even more so.
Even if you don't shoot it often, the Carbine is gaining value. Soon, they'll be worth as much as the Garand rifles.
