Anyone have any experience with Just Right Carbines?

Post by Geno » Sat Nov 04, 2017 10:08 pm

I've been looking for an AR9. Saw a possible deal for a Just Right Carbine takedown. Any information about these?

I've handed a few in gun shops. Always came away with the impression that they were way more heavy than they needed to be.
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

I was going for lightweight. Probably better to do a PSA AR9 pistol?

To be fair opinion of weight is relative, so maybe ignore what I said above.
This review said it's 6.5lbs. http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2012/0 ... r-carbine/

There are different models, with a variety of handguards. I need to get out more to lay hands on these critters.

I didn't like mine. Lots of blow back in your face when firing. Get a palmetto 9mm AR. Super fun.

I’ve owned one for several years.

Pros: uses Glock mags; extremely reliable; accurate.

Cons: ugly as homemade sin; PITA to disassemble.

I bought mine because it was extremely cheap (20% off with no sales tax), and it has given me zero issues. With that said, I’d rather have a CZ Scorpion or an MPX.

A lot of people on the pistol caliber carbine FB pages have trouble with the PSA ar9 stuff. Lots of changing buffers, springs, bolts, and a LOT of feeding issues because the ramps on the barrel. It’s so common there are guys that offer recutting some stuff in the chamber to make them run reliably. I have no experience with them first hand. My ar9 was mostly bought from JoeBobs Outfitters. It was not really a low budget project though, but other than the trigger pin walking out, I haven’t had any issues at all. Image

I've handled these in gun shops, seemed to be well built, I have no experience firing them though. The barrel unscrews off.

What about a Sub2k in 9mm? Lite, decent shooters, good aftermarket support, and cheap.

AR9 is a blast and much less recoil and quieter. The action is really loud in the sub and has a surprising amount of recoil for a 9mm. AR9 feels like a .22lr. I have no experience with any of the other cool 9 carbines.

Geno, I built one on a PSA colt mag lower with a cheap 10” keymod free float, 16” Wilson S/S bbl, RRA 9mm buffer, Noreen billet slick side upper, KNS Pins and made a 3/4” wood spacer for the buffer tube. I used a Magpul MOE fixed buttstock on a std carbine buffer tube. It is very light and a blast to shoot
