SXS/Double Barrel 30-06!

I ran by Sporter Express in Etown to browse the other day and seen this:



A double barrel 30-06!! Pretty sweet looking gun and not something you see everyday.





Very slick looking gun and really feels like a nice piece.......It also had adjustable sights and 11mm scope rail......It's made by Baikal, a Russian manufacture.......From what I've read they also make one in 45-70......Not something I plan to add to the collection anytime soon, but it was a neat gun that I thought was worth sharing......

isnt this what is commonly referred to as an Elephant Gun ( double rifle)? Never seen one myself, but seems like a cool concept for the right application.

I tried to find one in 45/70 a few years back. Harder to find than a virgin in a maternity ward!

Price was ~$700 range........can't remember exactly.......I think $740ish

A drilling is typically a three barreled affair, usually with two shotgun barrels (sxs) over a single rifle barrel. Popular type of gun in Europe, and sometimes aircrews were issued with them as a survival tool in the event of being shot down.

I looked at getting one of these baikal doubles in 45-70 a few years ago but decided against it. From what I understand its simply a reworked shotgun action, probably not really suited for what they're doing here. I will get myself a double some day, but gotta save up. To get into anything decent costs big, I wouldn't waste money on this one.

My local guy has one in his store in 45-70. Neat looking but fills no need of mine.
