Optics for Mini 14?

Post by Next » Wed Oct 01, 2014 10:38 pm

I have a set up 30 mm rings sitting around for a mini 14 and kicking around what optics to put on it. I was kicking around getting a 1.5x5 compact scope to use the 30mm rings, but was wondering if going with a red dot set up would be better. Anyone else have optics on a mini?

Barring compatibility issues, none of which I'm aware of, optic choice is decided by what you want to do with it more than what you're putting it on.

maybe a cheap 4X power might be a way to go.

lol.

I took my scope off my Ranch Rifle. It had an after market rail on it with a scope mounted. Ever round fired would reflect powder off the underside of the rail and into your face.

As with any AR, I would think that a 1x4 would be a versatile option. Something with an illuminated red dot could make close encounters with 1x power a nice option. The Burris scopes seem to be tough and not too awful expensive.

Hey Jungle Work, read the OP and you'll find that they HAVE an AR also. The question was about a good site for the Mini. I happen to have both, the Vortex Strikefire on my AR and a 4X cheap AIM scope on my Mini. I'd use either one in a SHTF situation as both are accurate out to 100 yards IMO.

Can you post a photo on your set up???? Some of the red dots look like they would sit too low and interfere with the ejection of spent casing.

Thank You.

I recommend a 1.5-6 variable "tactical" scope.
