I've heard rumors that the British are looking to ditch this rifle once and for all. Found this piece from 2002 while investigating.

The L85 (SA80) rifle was handed over to HK and they were asked if they could fix this. They did and come out with the improved version, the L85A2, which is now the UK service rifle and by reports I've seen very reliable.
