After coming home, a buddy of mine went to buy the same rifle he used as a sniper in the Marines. Instead, while on the phone with McMillan, he made a couple of decisions that he has been regretting ever since. He went with the McMillan long action in 308, which is not what he used as a sniper. It's an awesome rifle, but he just never got the "feel" of the action.
Sooo..... given the chances that he could find someone that had a Remington 700 short action with a Snyder fluted barrel, with machine marks left on that wanted to trade are virtually nil, what are his options?
Does anyone have any idea of what he could sell the action and barrel for? Or would it make more sense to sell the whole rifle sans optics, and just call McMillan back for a new one the way he originally wanted it spec'd out?
McMillan 308. Options needed.

If he parts out the barrel and action
He will have or have that unscrewed.
Barrel wrench and vise blocks cost $ to buy or rent if he is a DIY guy

I agree with Cranky, sell the rifle and get what he wants from McMillan. Those rifles are precision tools and shouldn't be monkeyed with, IMO.
