10rd box magizine bolt rifles.
10rd box magizine bolt rifles.
What others are out there. Ruger Gunsite scout rifle .308cal, Mossberg MVP Predator .223cal also been looking at a CZ 527 but only 5rd box mags for it. I know you can get drop in mag/trigger houseing for the Remington 700. Any other little jewels out there I am missing. Dam extra mags for them are crazy high except for the Mossberg that uses standard AR mags.

I would not own a rifle that used $110 mags.Livewire wrote:Savage model 10BA in .308 uses a 10 round detachable mag. It only comes with one mag and extra mags are around $110 a piece.

I wonder if Cranky could mount a AR10, M14, FAL or G3 mag well to the bottom of a bolt action rifle.
I think my extra heavy 308 03-A3 could use a Beta C Mag on it.

So which mag well would you rather install?guncrank1 wrote:YesJff24Gordn wrote:I wonder if Cranky could mount a AR10, M14, FAL or G3 mag well to the bottom of a bolt action rifle.

An AR10 mag well would be the ticket on a 308cal. The question is how do you get the bolt to strip a round from the magizine and then feed it. Mossberg came up with a new bolt configuration (has this little flap extention on it) that strip's the round out of an AR15 mag I assume you would have to do the same with a AR10 mag. I been look at the Mossberg Predator, has a more convention stock step up but is still missing some thing I would what on it being a iron site set up and a brake/flash hider. But still at around $450.00 thats a great price for a scout rifle and compared to others I have seen priced.
If memory serves me right AR10 mags are alot less that $80.00 to $110.00 ea. So cranky could you mount a say AR10 mag well to a Remington/Savage bolt rifle and make it work.

Well let's see
So far I fitted a BDM to a savage blind magizine stock
In the past I fitted FN-FAL to a French MAS
Currently I have plans to fit a Remington mag to a Mauser so yeah I can say yes
But it is going to be a time /material job

My 1903-A3 has an internal double stack magazine and the bottom of the bolt is just round, nothing fancy.Dashammer wrote:An AR10 mag well would be the ticket on a 308cal. Meh depends on the hourly rate of the shopetownguy wrote:I really wish my Savage had a magazine on it just for ease of reloading. to upgrade to a box mag is pretty damn expensive though..
@ 200.00 could get it
The problem with Savage is the stock is fiberglass with a aluminum block bedding core
I use carbide tooling

Re: 10rd box magizine bolt rifles.
The Mossy MVP is supposed to be available now, or soon, in 308 and accepts Magpul AR-10 mags. If it works as well as the MVP in 223 with the MAGPUL AR-15 mags, I think I would prefer this over the Ruger Scout Rifle.
Have been looking, but only seen reviews and sightings at SHOT Show. It is not listed on Mossy's website either.

It's aftermarket, but Legacy Sports makes a detachable mag conversion w/ 10 round mags for the Howa1500/Tikka T3/Weatherby Vanguard.
