My hacked and chopped Mosin

Post by etownguy » Sun Sep 02, 2012 9:58 pm

I don't see these as collector guns so I hacked mine up in rebellion.

ATI stock, scope mount and bolt
Weaver low scope mounts
Redfeild 6-18x40 scope
Rear sight removed and barrel smoothed out
6" barrel chop

Nice

You giving me ideas
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

You'll grow to hate that ATI handle. Get a new bolt handle made to clear the ATI rail.

My hacked and chopped Mosin

It will never move. Once it all fit together I filled the recess in the handle with jb weld torqued down the bolt and wiped away the excess the oozed out.

Hahahahahahaaaaaa :llama:

It is not the J/B weld but the 10-32 screw that has four threads in the bolt body.
I weld the ATI handle to the body and weld over the screw.

Never had one of mine break but......Alway thought that just a screw could break. As a fracture point is built in the thread.

Looks good. I have one that Guncrank is working on (scope mount, bent bolt and trigger work).

At the time of drop off he mentioned smoothing the barrel of the sight mounts. After seeing your photos I may have to give him a call and see about having that done also.
