How about a Piston Kit for your AR-15 platform??

Post by adayton » Tue Nov 10, 2015 9:42 am

I have a few of the piston kits from Syrac Ordnance ... both Carbine and Mid-length... Also have one coming for the AR-10 in mid length ...
This includes the Gas piston which replaces the original gas block (BTW, most if not all handguards will fit over the Syrac Ordnance Gas piston block as it is low profile), op rod, Bolt Carrier and adjusting tool... You will have to supply your bolt, firing and cam pin, etc. as the bolt carrier is just that ... a bolt carrier.
The price for members is $250.00 (which is right in line with Adams Arms or even less...) BTW, I have built several rifles using the AA kits and although they have not failed to perform, I like the design of the Syrac Ordnance better... and especially the fact that anybody's FF handguard will fit over them...
Check them out here:

Can you get the AR 10 kit in rifle length to fit the original ArmaLite rifles?

Chuck,
The member price for the AR-10 kit is ~$275.00 varying with shipping cost(s) ... and since it replaces the gas block, you would want to already have a FF handguard in place or plan on replacing the original with a FF...
I'm not sure what the original Armalite AR-10 came with, but that actually stands to reason for any of the kits... If what you are wanting to install it on does not have a FF handguard and utilizes the standard 2 piece handguard with Delta ring, etc., you will want to replace it with one... Just my opinion, though ...
You would be able to use the bolt, cam pin, firing pin and firing pin keeper from your original bolt...
I think it would be a nice upgrade...(again, my opinion... :D )

I have FF tubes on both of my Armalite AR 10's, so I doubt if it would be much of a problem.

Could you figure the total, including shipping to 77379, for one set, to start with?

I have wanted to try a piston kit on one of these rifles for years, but no one has offered one 'til now (if, in fact, it will work on a rifle length gas system Armalite rifle).
