barrel options and opinions

I'm looking to order a barrel today and in a unfinished, chrome lined AK47 barrel I'm finding ESS, High Standard and not much else. Green Mountain in a finished barrel. Are all of these good choices or should I stay away from any of these? I want an unfinished one but if the ESS and High Standard are POS I'll just get the Green Mountain and have it stripped when I get the gun coated. Thanks for all the help again...Johnny

You want a finished barrel
A unfinished needs chamfering and machine work

Make sure your aftermarket barrel has the "Bentz" match chamber. It will allow better feeding with ammo that is not expensive match grade. I have one on my 10-22 and get 5 shot 1/2" groups at 50 yards with Winchester T-22 ammo and Eley. It feeds Federal value pack and other economy 22 ammo as slick as any match ammo. Will get 3/4" groups at 50 yards with the cheap ammo.

Welcome to forum

A "Bentz" chamber is only in .22LR, nothing else

Johnny,
I don't have experience with the barrels you have mentioned, but I am in the process of getting hooked up with ESS on the recommendation of a friend in the business ... He maintains they are a good lower cost AR Barrel, but I don't know that he has had experience with their AK barrels ... He does speak highly of their AR barrels and I would think that if one was good the other should not be that bad ... :-) I am told that Anderson uses some ESS barrels as well and I have not had a bad experience with theirs to date ...
My $0.02 worth ...
thanx,
Allan

If your AK barrel does not have a Bentz chamber, it is FUBAR , no matter who makes it or not.
