Don't listen to JSI, he knows not of what he speaks.
Right now, most available and best would probably be the ARSENAL ones.

I love my arsenal AK. The AMD-65 is quite a bit of fun though.

I have an Arsenal and a WASR 10 both are shot without any negative issues. However if pushed to only one I would keep the Arsenal. Geno

Supposedly unreliable and mixed revies on AR's with 7.62 uppers. Arsenal is the general consensus with top of the line AK's. If he wants a shooter just get a WASR for <$500 but if it is his go to gun then Arsenal might be worth the money.

AK and AR are both great guns that will do what is needed just fine, my only requirement is that an AK be in a x39 caliber, and the AR be is 5.56, both work great with the round they were intended. Its not until some foolish gun guru from the interwebs tries to reinvent the wheel that we get reliability issues.

The best AKs are IMO builusingng the original barrel, I like the standard style stock that side folds in the 5.45X39 caliber, many quality AKs are built from parts kits by small makers.

Arsenal or Saiga

Either in 7.62x39 or 5.45x39.

Both calibers have pros and cons.

Also FWIW the issue with 7.62x39 ARs largely is shit magazines.

this pretty much covers it. You can get by with less like a WASR after you fix some issues.

7.62x39 AR, magazines suck and have tendency to break bolts.

I love my Saiga, and it's not even converted yet, 7.62x39. Had an Egyptian Maadi before that and it was not pretty but worked perfectly.

From what I understand Arsenals are just nicely converted Saigas for the most part. However, I am supposed to be picking one up this weekend LOL.

We are talking AK's here. I have owned Romy's WASR 10's and top of the line milled Norincos. All i can say is yes there is a small difference in how they feel shooting and yes there is a difference in quality as far as fit and finish. But I have yet to have any of them let me down as far as reliability and shooting.

If money wasn't an issue I'd pick up a Rifle Dynamics AK. If money was an issue is look at the Serbian pap or any newer made century. The best deal right now I've seen (not technically a ak) is the vz2008. It's a 7.62 by 39 and can be had for less than $400 @ PSA an is a close cousin to the AK.

Another less expensive option is the m&m M10. I love mine, never a problem and I really like the look of the front sight on the gas tube. Look into them

Jim Fuller makes the absolute best AK's, but if you are in the same "can't afford a Rifle Dynamics" boat as me, then the Century C39 is one heck of a bargain. As soon as the C39 v2 drops, I'm jumping on one.
