AK-47 stock sets

Post by 1fastmach1 » Tue Dec 31, 2013 8:07 pm

I'm looking to buy some furniture for my ak but I'm not sure what will fit and the best place to get it. I'm not opposed to buying used but I don't really know what I need. I have a Romanian receiver. It has the plastic butt stock and the aluminum quad rail. I'd rather it look like a tradition wooden ak with the old school sling. Any suggestions guys?

This is refinished factory wood from a Romanian parts kit I got from Copes.

Looks nice. I looked the copes suet over and kind find anything on there. They have a few odds and end but not any sets made of wood. They have plenty of crapco stuff though.

Avoid the Crapco, at all costs!

Check out Aim, they may have some stock sets, along with Centerfire Systems, another good place for AK parts. Apex is another good place for parts, http://www.apexgunparts.com. Also http://www.atlanticfirearms.com, & http://www.mississippiautoarms.com are both good sources.

I found some really nice sets on the Atlantic firearms website. They have are colored set that sweet but costs $139.00. I didn't expect them to be that much. Maybe if I keep searching I can find a nice used set someone has laying around for a better price. Thanks for the suggestions. Lots of AK stuff out there on the market.

The best!
But you can also buy some original wood stocks that are in bad shape fairly cheap and refinish them yourself and make them look just as nice.

Gun shows are a decent place to browse because you can haggle price.

You might also want to talk to our new vendor/sponser AK builders here on KAC. I would be very surprised if they didn't have some used furniture pieces available.

Just poke around local flea markets. I've bought full sets as low as $3 and bought 2 stock for .50¢ each.

I haven't been to a flea market since my great grandmother passed away. I'll have to hit out up I suppose and see what shakes out.

That's a pretty good deal. If you guys see something at a market then please let me know. I don't really go to them and wouldn't even know where to find a flea market other then the crappy etown flea market.

Isn't timbersmith partnered up with tapco? That's what I'm doing, getting an old Romanian set and refinishing it. Mine has walnut wood on it now with the 50th anniversary medallion in the stock. But the stock doesn't have a buttplate or rear sling swivel and I like those features. Expect to have close to $100 in refinishing a set unless u find a deal like nemo at the flea market. Apex is a great sight but if u get the stock and handguard set it'll b around $50-60 plus refinish materials. Might get it done for $80-100

Yes, crapco bought them. Stocks and hand guards are really nice, the grips are kinda plain and not comfy.
