Looking at buying my first AK

Post by Jff24Gordn » Mon Apr 02, 2012 9:10 pm

I am thinking about buying my first AK. I don't know much about AKs. But I like the looks of a Century Romanian under folder like this one.
Any thoughts?

Liked the underfolder I had. Prefer an AMD. MUCH cheaper.

You'll be happy with a WASR UF. Love mine.

Side folders are better IMO.

Sidefolders are cool too. All depends on what you like. I like both but if I could only have one I'd go UF. But I'd take either anytime.

At least with most sidefders you can easily change the stock if you decide to. Not the case with the underfolders. Different rear trunnion on the UF.

I find the wood stocks to be more accurate.
AMD is the best side folder made.

Just wanted to clarify a point I was trying to make. I said most sidefolders were easily changed to traditional stocks. This is true for Romanian side folders.
As I understand it, the Hungarian AMD side folder is not easily interchanged with say a wood stock. The AMD rear trunnion won't accept a standard AK butt stock without modification.

They are sweet shooters though. Just wanted to be clear for OP.
