Re: *** KAC Shoot and Meet Sat Feb 18th 2017 ***

Wish I could be there, it sounds like it's gonna be epic!

With all the talk of chili, etc. I keep seeing the campfire scene from Blazing Saddles in my mind's eye.

Re: What did you pick up today?

I will bring the box I got to the shoot so see what it does. From the reviews I have seen online it will hold together in gelliten but will tumble. 12 inch or so penetration when shot with 10/22. Accuracy seems good out to about 75 yards. Then they become unstable. I think when it hits anything har...

NGD! Need an IWB as above, & a double mag holder for my new SIG P320 full size, if you can make it.

Re: What did you pick up today?

Picked up some 5.56 and some bx10 mags for Ruger. Also found a box of the new CCI copper. 1850fps and a 21 grain all copper round. Interested to see how flat it shoots. I'd be equally interested to know how the terminal ballistics would work with a bullet that light going that fast in a .22LR. Does...

If they did, wouldn't they survive being dropped?

Re: Q about reloading some BNWC in 38 special cases...

Unfortunately, I have not used those exact bullets, but the load data you listed should be ok, though, being anal about my loads, I would start around 2.8 gr and work up until they either started leaving lead in the barrel, or pressure signs started showing and then back off from there. What pistol ...

Re: Q about reloading some BNWC in 38 special cases...

Bare lead bullets, even hardcast, are typically loaded to lower velocities than standard loads to prevent leading up barrels.

How much Titegroup does your manual call for on the 148gr bullet?

Don't forget Timney! They make some great drop in triggers, rivaling Giessele, IMO. I have Timney single stage triggers in both of my AR-10s.

Re: Bullet Casting - Getting started

This is all great info, and Larry has done a great job of relating it. Not by any means taking anything away from our esteemed colleague's efforts, here, but a great bench top reference to have on hand is the Hornady Casting Handbook, which can be had for >$30 from Amazon. It contains step by step i...

Re: .308 help

An adjustable gas block might be a good solution, and yes, they do make them, but I think it should be simpler than that. I'm thinking an H2 heavy buffer and/or a good solid 168gr load would be the first things to try. Judging from the pics, it looks like a DPMS pattern rifle, and they seem to like ...

Re: Finally broke my USPc 45 firing pin!

I just checked mine, it's date code is AH, which decodes to 2007, so it would appear mine's got the updated parts from the factory.

Thanks for posting the date code info, saves me the trouble of digging it up on my own.

Re: Finally broke my USPc 45 firing pin!

You know if you had bought a Hi-Point it would have fixed for free. Just saying. :llama: Uh, no. Just no. While I'm not generally a Hi-Point snob (I actually really like thier carbines), I find thier handguns to be less than accurate enough to suite me. Crush, kill, mangle, maim, destroy.

Re: Powder coating step-by-step

It's always been my policy to shoot only jacketed bullets in matches or competition. Yes, I realize it can get quite costly, which is one reason I shoot my hand loads a lot. I also find that my consistancy is much better shooting my hand loads as I am extremely picky about my powder charge weight an...

Re: Powder coating step-by-step

Would this make the safe to shoot out of a Glock ? I've been shooting hard cast lead bullets in my Glocks for years with no problems. Of course, I am pretty anal about checking for signs of leading in the polygonal bore on a routine basis. When shooting bare lead, I always clean the bore every 100-...

Re: Finally broke my USPc 45 firing pin!

Thanks, Carlos, I'll have to look into getting one for my USPc/T. It's still my favorite .45 suppressor host.

Are you sure a new firing pin costs $45? That seems pretty high, even for H&K.

That's funny you should post that, I just ordered a .309" 230 grain bullet mold to make .300BLK subsonic bullets. I'm going to get a powder coating setup for them, too, thanks to the stuff you've been posting!
